The World Irish Dance Association (W.I.D.A.) is a young organisation set up to promote and develop Irish Dancing for today's business arena.
Based in mainland Europe, W.I.D.A. organises workshops, competitions and examinations to aid in the promotion of an interest and the development of a standard in Irish Dancing.
A prior knowledge or experience of Irish Dance is not necessary to become a certified W.I.D.A. dance teacher or adjudicator as few people on the European mainland grew up having the opportunity to know about Irelands national dance style.
An examination programme and schedule has been developed to encourage those with an interest in Irish Dance to become certified teachers and adjudicators with W.I.D.A. Candidates will be able to go at their own pace and develop their knowledge and skill without the pressure of deadlines and will be able to be fully certified when they are ready to complete the examination process.
W.I.D.A. will also where possible promote the language, music and culture of Ireland in appropriate settings and also encourage all students and teachers to participate in culture programmes which will be offered by W.I.D.A.

Die World Irish Dancing Association (kurz: W.I.D.A.) ist eine junge Organisation, die gegründet wurde, um den irischen Tanz in der Welt von heute zu fördern und weiterzuentwickeln.
Die W.I.D.A. hat Ihren Hauptsitz auf dem europäischen Festland und organisiert Workshops, Wettbewerbe und Prüfungen, um das Interesse am Irish Dancing zu stärken und Standards zu entwickeln.
Da die meisten auf dem europäischen Festland keine Möglichkeit hatten, mit dem irischen Tanz aufzuwachsen, werden auch keine Vorkenntnisse oder Erfahrungen im Irish Dancing erwartet, um die Ausbildung zum zertifizierten Tanzlehrer oder Wertungsrichter der W.I.D.A. zu beginnen.
Um diesen besonderen Umständen zu entsprechen, wurden ein Prüfungssystem und ein Lehrplan entwickelt, um es Interessierten zu ermöglichem, Lehrer oder Wertungsrichter der W.I.D.A. zu werden. Die Kandidaten können ihre Lerngeschwindigkeit selbst bestimmen und ihr Wissen und ihre Fähigkeiten im Irish Dancing ohne Zeitdruck und Fristen entwickeln. Sobald die Kandidaten bereit sind, den Prüfungsprozess abzuschließen, erhalten sie ihr Zertifikat als voll qualifizierte Tanzlehrer und Wertungsrichter.
W.I.D.A. wird auch, sofern möglich, in angemessenem Umfang die Sprache, Musik und Kultur Irlands fördern und auch alle Schüler und Lehrer ermutigen, an den von W.I.D.A angebotenen Kulturprogrammen teilzunehmen.
